Introducing Johnny--Johnny Appleseed that Is!

Here's 17" Johnny is his "duds."  He will be heading to the 2010 Teddy Bear Artist Invitational (TBAI) this summer. I'm really pleased with how he turned out. I fashioned his shirt and pants to be similar to that of the early 1800s and I was also lucky enough to find a pot that looked appropriate, fit his head, and also wasn't so heavy that it would topple him over. Finding a pot to fit that bill was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I finally found one on eBay that worked.

Johnny also comes with his pretend apple and his seed sack (it even has apple seeds in it!).  The girls have been collecting and drying apple seeds for me each time they have an apple.  I also believe there may be some pear seeds in there.  As the girls informed me, they don't look a whole lot different than apple seeds.  Okay, sounds good enough to me.  They were generous enough to collect them for me so I'm not going to complain!

"Johnny Appleseed" will be a Gallery piece at TBAI that will be auctioned off during this wonderful event which takes place in Binghamton, NY from August 12-14. All of the proceeds from Johnny's auction will benefit endangered animals. I feel really honored to be able to be a part of this great venue and would love to see some of you there.
