Turtle Time

I've decided I'm like a turtle.  Slowly taking one step at a time, one movement at a time, one thing at a time.  But all these slow movements are starting to add up!

I just finished stuffing my bear for the TBAI challenge--the theme this year is "Treasures of the World."  Tomorrow, I'll sew him up, needlefelt his eyelids, add some claws, do some hand-painting, and start designing his outfit.

And yesterday, I made a little needlefelted bee as the finishing touch on the last of my three bears for the online Blooming Bear show.  I wish I could show them to you, but, alas.  I will be able to show you ONE of the bears on March 1st--and then, of course, you'll be able to see all three on March 12th and 13th.

I know it sounds like I'm just cruising along and have no concerns whatsoever about deadlines.  Oh, how I wish that were true!  But I will be sending three bears in June to Silly Bears in Aberdeen, Scotland and another three in August.  I also need to have at LEAST ten bears to take to TBAI in August--plus my challenge bear for the TBAI Gallery.  That's seventeen bears by mid-August!

I know many artists can make that many bears in no time--I'm just not one of them.  If I've done my calculations correctly, that gives me one and a half weeks to finish each bear.  As long as I stay healthy and don't have any flare-ups, I think I can do it.  But my normal pace is about one bear in TWO weeks.  SOOOO . . .

I'm trying to be a speedy turtle!  Think litttle critter in Keds.

Heaps of Hugs,

  1. They sound just lovely. Hope things go to plan.

  2. I don't think I even qualify for the title of turtle. I think I may be more of a snail! I have good intentions, but life gets in the way.
    Good luck with everything!

  3. You can do can do it. I am right there with you, I need a table full in May for the Doll and Bear Convention. I have one. I can do it.. I can do it.. I will do it.

  4. Thanks to all of you! I'm starting to feel more like the "little engine that could"---I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...

I know you'll be able to do it, Joanne! I'll send some extra positive thoughts your way.

  5. Go Go Go Cheryl! We're all cheering for ya =)

  6. Cheryl,

You can do this. Think positive and think one day at a time - don't stress about two days from now. Focus on the day at hand.

Of course you can do this - I know you can. We all work at our own pace, that's what makes us unique and different. (o:

  7. I'd love to say that I think you're on a roll, but a rolling turtle would be a BAD thing, so, err, yeah, you're on a trot :oD

  8. I can't wait to see what you come up with :) I love these little guys!!

Also, I tried the pasta brand you suggested and I can't really tell the difference between that and regular pasta... THANK YOU!
