A Pocket Pixie Visit

Alas, my mother-in-law is leaving for home on the evening train today.  We've had a lovely visit.  She and the girls spent their free time making some sweet Pocket Pixies by Gingermelon Dolls.  Don't you think that all three of them turned out absolutely adorable?!

Below is my mother-in-law's doll, Genevieve Marie--a great friend of Madeline (from the book) and also an orphan.

Introducing Katia, my 16-year-old's sweetie.  You can't see it, but she has a cute streak of red in her hair.

And last, but not least, this is the lovely Anastasia made by our 13-year-old (also known as our cookie-baker elf).

I think their busy-ness certainly paid off with sweet dolls all around!

Here a Moo, There a Moo, Everywhere a Moo, Moo

Have I told you how much I like  Well, if I have, I'm going to tell you again.  I just received my new business cards and I'm so pleased with how they turned out.  The cards are beautifully thick--I know that sounds a bit strange, but they just feel so nice in your hand.

Here's the front of them.

And the back of them, too!

(Actually the back of my cards also says "Artist Bears" at the top with some pretty little scrolls on either side, but for unknown reasons Blogger wouldn't upload the photo properly.  Ah, well.  At least you get the idea.)

I also was running out of hangtags, so I ordered a set of them as well.  After I fill out the information about each bear on the back and sign my name, I laminate the card and punch a hole in it so that it can serve as the Certificate of Authenticity and the hangtag at the same time.

I know.  I'm such a silly goose--I get excited about the smallest of things.  But, hey, ya gotta love life!

Wee Jamie

As many of you know, I don't tend to make very many smaller bears.  But I was put to a challenge and I think I succeeded!  Here's 8 1/2" Jamie.  He was just mailed off this morning to Michigan.

I think he turned out pretty cute.  Maybe I'll make another in the future.

Right now, I would just be happy if my elbow would heal up so that I can finish two bears waiting very patiently on my bench.   Ah, the joys of fibromyalgia.  I seem to have a propensity to getting tendonitis.  Last summer it was in my hands, now it's in my elbow.  Oh, well.  I bought a brace yesterday that seems to be helping me to be able to get a little bit of work done as long as I work in short spurts.  Next week I'll start some physical therapy and hopefully it will heal up quickly.  Wish me luck!

Holy Cow!

I've never been a very lucky person when it comes to raffles, lotteries, or giveaways, but I guess my luck has changed!!  I can't believe I won ANOTHER giveaway.  This time I won a box filled to the brim with vintage baby clothes from Karen Brady at Brady Bears' Studio.

I CAN'T believe it!  You may be seeing some sweet little vintage things on some bears in the future.

A Final Note on the Blooming Bear Show

Thank you to all of you who visited the online Blooming Bear Show during the weekend!  It looks like it was a successful show for many artists.  I also want to thank the collectors who gave my three critters new, loving homes.  I really appreciate all of the support I receive for my bears from all of you--it means the world to me.

For those of you who may not have been able to visit the show, I can finally share the other two creations that I had available for adoption besides Benny and his Bee (which you saw in a previous post).

Now I'm off to finish up another bear for Silly Bears in Aberdeen, Scotland and then to start work on some bears for the TBAI show this August--nothing like preparing in advance!

The Excitement is Brewing!

Remember when you were little and the Christmas catalogs started coming in the mail?  Remember the excitement?  The endless possibilities?  I feel like that today in anticipation of the Blooming Bear Show.  I can't believe that it starts tomorrow.  Seventy-five bear artists from around the world showing some of their best work.  Hundreds of bears to choose from.  And just ONE more sleep until it starts!

I know I'll be popping out out of bed tomorrow like a little kid on Christmas morning, grabbing my robe and slippers, and running down to the computer so that I can be there right at 8:00 am New York time when it opens.  I hope you'll join me--it'll be so nice knowing that I have company.

My Daughter has an Etsy Shop!

I'm so proud to announce that our eldest daughter has opened her own Etsy shop called Yodeling Yarns.  She's making the cutest little crocheted critters.  I just HAD to buy one of her little hamsters--it's just too cute!  Here's a sample of some of her work.

If you have some time you might want to see what she has in store by clicking HERE.

The Cutest Little Doll Pattern

I just CAN'T believe my luck lately with giveaways.  Shelly at Gingermelon Dolls had a giveaway of her pattern for Pocket Pixies and I was one of the lucky winners!!!  Unbelievable!  Aren't these the sweetest little dolls?!

My girls just LOVE these dolls and were thrilled this morning when I told them the news and showed them the pattern.  Even the cookie-baker elf who doesn't tend to like handwork was bouncing around the house and has vowed that she is going to make one of these cuties.

I know Shelly sells these patterns at her Etsy shop, so now you can get one too.

One of My New Bears

I'm thrilled that I can finally show you a photo of one of my bears!  Today, March 1st, the preview for the online Blooming Bear Show officially starts.  So, here's Benny and His Bee!

At 13 inches, Benny is my smallest bear in the show.  I'll also have a 16-inch bear and a 14 1/2-inch bunny available.

The Blooming Bear Show will run from 8am New York time on March 12th to 9pm New York time on March 13th.  I can't wait!  Don't forget to mark your calendars!  And in the meantime, go check out the previews from the other 74 artists.  There is some amazing work!

Heaps of Hugs,
