A Wonderful Surprise!

I'm just thrilled to pieces that I won a "2012 Excellence in Bear Artistry Award" for Thaddeus!!
This is a very prestigious award as the winners are chosen by four amazing bear artists from around the world.

I'll be honest and say that I only entered one category because I didn't think I had much chance of winning.  However, what is new and interesting about this competition is that the artist receives a critique of each bear entered.  THAT is why I entered!  I wanted the critique.  But now I have won as well and will be soon receiving a gorgeous crystal trophy!  Unbelievable!!

TBAI Here I Come!

Well, I'm all packed up and ready to go, but I still have to wait 2 more hours until I can be on the road.  So it seemed the perfect time to play around in Photoshop with some of my bears heading to TBAI.

Here's Thaddeus with the cutout filter.

And Averill with the colored pencil filter applied.

And my preview table set-up with the embossed filter.  (I always take a photo of my set-up with the bears in place because it makes setting up so much easier on the day of the show.)

And lastly, another shot of my table set-up this time wrapped in  plastic wrap.

Soon the wrap will be removed and the show will begin!!

Birthday Wishes

This time of year is filled with birthdays for our family--mine, my  husband's, and my mom's to name a few.  So it seemed like the perfect time to share "Millicent's First Birthday" with all of you!

Millicent is my gallery bear for next week's Teddy Bear Artist Invitational (TBAI) show in Binghamton, New York.  TBAI is such a fun show.  One of the reasons for this is that each year there is a theme which defines all of the gallery bears and the party atmosphere.  This year the theme is "Any Occasion Will Do" and it kicks off with a Sock Hop and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 16th.  Just 10 more days!!

If you want to find out more about TBAI go to for all of the information.  Don't forget to check out the gallery page so you can see some of the fabulous creations made especially for this event by some amazing bear artists.  Proceeds from the sale of the gallery pieces benefit the Ross Park Zoo in Binghamton which, from what I understand, is the fifth oldest zoo in the United States.  A very good cause!
