Advance Planning--Perhaps a Bit TOO Advance!

So, Thanksgiving is less than a week away and I'm wondering if any of you are as goofy as I am.

Unlike the woman above, I'm basically finished with my Christmas shopping--just a few little stocking stuffers left.  Yes, you read that right.  It's crazy!  I even have most of the gifts for the girls' teachers taken care of (!).  Right after Halloween I start making sure I have all my ducks in a row.  AND if I don't have most of my shopping done by Thanksgiving, I start getting really nervous.  Silliness!

But there you have it--it's the way I am and have been for years.  When I'm out and about visiting arts and crafts shows during the summer, I pick up gifts for my mom and mother-in-law.  I have a little stash in my closet.  So earlier this week I rummaged through what I had and chose what they will get for Christmas leaving the remaining items for birthdays and Mother's Day.  I wish I could say that I have a stash for my dad as well, but, alas, no.  He's a tricky one!

So next weekend, right after Thanksgiving, Matt will tote the boxes of Christmas decorations out of storage and the girls and I will spend a day decorating (after a day of cleaning first!).  It's hard to believe, but Christmas is just about here!

  1. Hi Miss Cheryl,

Nope, you aren't crazy. We are the same way, we call it "tradition", or well organized, or crazy. Giggle.

Mom says as soon as all the decorations are up and the shopping is done we can sit back and enjoy the season.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

    Hugs,
    Prudence ♥

  3. Good morning Cheryle..awww..a girl after my own heart...such Christmas spirit! My shopping isn't done just yet but I am well on my way. I like to have things done ahead of time so that I can enjoy, what I hope is a snowy December, sipping cocoa and stitching by the tree, baking, cooking and relaxing :)

Wishing you and yours a joyous Thanksgiving.

  5. I have always been an early Christmas shopper. I even start listening to Christmas music in August. The only problem is....the closer it gets the more Christmas spirit I feel, the more I want to shop! I'm ready to put up the decorations too...but hubby is making me wait til after Thanksgiving.

  6. I understand COMPLETELY,Nancy! I don't think shopping early saves me ANY money. And I just bought a sweet, vintage-style "countdown to Santa" plaque and it doesn't have enough numbers for me to put it out--but it's hanging up on a doorknob anyways!

  7. Heh, I may or may not have bought both my grandmothers' Christmas pressies and stocking fillers for my parents when I was over there in October ;o) I do still have a quilt to make for my parents though...

  8. Good for you, Katy! Good luck with finishing your parents' quilt--I'm sure you'll finish in good time.

  9. Oh no! I don't even start Christmas shopping until 2 weeks before Christmas and that is when I decorate, too! I used to buy gifts in advance and hide them and then I would forget where I hid them, so I quit doing that! Good for you being so organized ;o) Hugs, Janice

  11. Oh, Kay and Janice! Don't worry. Being organized isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Sometimes I wish I could wait to do all of my Christmas shopping two weeks before Christmas or at least after Thanksgiving. By the time Christmas comes, I sometimes feel like "Hasn't this been going on for quite some time?" It would feel more exciting the other way, but the stress would aggravate my health, so....
