Going Distracted

Yes, I am definitely going distracted!  Let me tell you a little bit more.

This is Nellie. At least that is her current name.  You never know--I may change it later.  Well, anyways, she was SO fun to make that I just couldn't stop working on her!

I had so much fun making her that I started another little doll yesterday. Nellie thinks she looks awfully BIG all laid out like that, but I've assured her that she started out just like that, too.  She's not terribly convinced yet.

I have BIG plans for these dolls (and perhaps others, too!), but I suppose I'll need to be a good girl and put them aside for awhile. I really don't want to, because it's become much too fun playing with them and I just don't want to stop. However, I guess I'll just have to.  Okay, okay!  I'll get to that in a minute.

Also on my desk is a little mirror.  Well, let me rephrase that.  I think it's a little mirror, but Nellie thinks it's a rather big mirror.  That's something else that I became distracted with during this short year.  However, you'll just have to patient for a while and see what I do with it in another month...or two...perhaps three.

"Goodness! Look at all the dust on it!"

Well, Nellie notices the dust, but I haven't gotten too wrapped around the axle about that yet.  However, if you look carefully perhaps you'll see what IS nagging at me.  See that fuzzy blob in the background?  Yes, you're right.  It's a fuzzy blob waiting to become a bear.  Soooo...I guess it's time for me to stop playing with dolls and get myself moving on making some bears because there's an online bear show I'm supposed to participate in a little over a month and I don't have a single bear completed.  YIKES!  I guess that also means that it's time for me to get off the computer and get to work.  Well, bye for now!

P.S.  I'll tell you a little secret, but you have to promise to keep it just between you and me...remember that little doll you saw all laid out on the table.  Well, I think I'll finish embroidering her hair first.  Truly!  I promise not to work very long.  Honestly!  You see, I only have one little, itty-bitty, teensy-tiny ponytail left to do, and she's just looking so forlorn laying on the table like that.  THEN I'll get to work.  Cross my heart!

  1. We all sound the same when it comes to crafting :-) I'm a bit of a butterfly crafter and like to fluffer from one project to another but isn't it just lovely when you enjoy doing it as much as you obviously do :-) I love Nellie and I'm sure her friend will be just as gorgeous :-)

  2. Oh Miss Cheryl, go play with Nellie's new sister. Take the weekend off and get back to bears on Monday, fuzzy blob will be there waiting for you. You know what they say...."all work and no play" or is it "all play and no work", giggle. (I have a super case of the giggles today.)

    1. Prudence, THAT's the problem! I've been totally all play and no work. I can't remember when I last worked on "fuzzy blob." But I do think I'll take some of your advice and perhaps I'll split the time working so that I get some progress on both of them. Thanks!!

  3. Oh Cheryl, she is beautiful. It does not matter what you are working on, as long as you are working. The bears will always be there. I want to see more now.

  6. Cute! Cute! Cute! It's great to immerse oneself in a little change of pace now and then. I'll stay tuned and see what develops from this project.

    Have fun! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Thank you all so much for your encouragement! I've tried to work a bit on the bear and he at least has stuffed limbs and "almost a face"--tomorrow I'll set his eyes and then it will be an official face. At least I'm done with embroidering the nose and mouth. For some reason I've developed a bit of an aversion to it. I suppose it's a bit stressful since at that point I'm so close to finishing the bear, but I can totally mess up the entire thing by making a wonky nose. At least I can breathe easy tonight!
