About Me

Welcome!  I'm what you may call a teddy bear artist, a soft-sculpture artist, or just a plain old teddy bear maker.  I make one-of-a-kind teddy bears and critters, as well as offer many patterns for those of you who are more DIY-inspired.

Bingle Bears are named for our little dog, Bingley, who entertains us with his joy of life. He loves everything and everybody.  Everyone who meets Bingley just smiles, laughs, and loves him. I hope my bears can even approach giving such happiness and comfort!

This journey started in the fall of 2008 when a friend suggested that I needed a teddy bear to cuddle because I was going through a tough time in my life due to health issues. Being the researcher that I am, I scoured the internet for sweet bears and happily stumbled upon the world of artist teddy bears. A world I didn’t even know existed prior to then! Soon I was busily cutting, sewing, and stuffing my first mohair teddy bear from a pattern. Right from the start, my head started spinning with ideas for bears of my own design. I was officially hooked—you could say it was love at first stitch!

I take pride in offering my collectors the highest quality bears I possibly can.  They are original, one-of-a-kind Bingle Bears beginning with their unique designs that I scratch out on paper, through each stitch on my trusty little Featherweight sewing machine, to the last snip of the hair on their chin.  My bears are made to last the test of time--high quality materials, double-stitched seams, and strong joints in their heads and limbs using locknut and bolts with fiberboard disks.  I love to give my bears a lively character, and to that end, I frequently add needle-felted details and carefully hand color their faces and paws to enhance their personalities.

I'm over the moon that it seems as if my hard work and fussiness over my bears has paid off.  I've won many international awards including a 2012  TOBY Industry Choice Award and a 2011 TOBY Industry Choice Award.  The TOBYs are one of the most prestigious awards in the bear artist world.  I've also won a 2012 Judges Choice, 2012 People's Choice, and 2013 Judges Choice in the Excellence in Bear Artistry Awards.  Unbelievable!

Feel free to contact me with any questions, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for joining me on this lovely journey,
Cheryl
